Glasses, Girls, And Genres: Our Favorite Netflix Kids Movies Featuring Children In Glasses #StreamTeam

We celebrate a lot of milestones in the Bradshaw family. New babies, new homes, new skills - it's all a reason to celebrate! This week, we are celebrating another milestone for Danger: Her first pair of glasses.

She's very excited about her new glasses, and with good reason. They have hearts on the side! (Oh, yeah... and she can see much better now). I'm still trying to figure out if she's more excited about the style or the function of her new frames.

Danger doesn't need a lot of coaxing to wear her glasses, but I'm doing my best to make sure this transition is as seamless as possible for her. We are reading books about children with glasses (she especially adores the Fancy Nancy: Spectacular Spectacles book!) I've even discovered some great movies with characters in glasses from Netflix.

I've joined Netflix for year two of the Stream Team, and they were so kind to send me a new iPad so that we can stream our favorite titles on-the-go! Danger and I can snuggle up anywhere in the house to watch our new favorite bespectacled characters. Check out my list of Netflix Kids movies featuring children in glasses, and tell me -- what movie or television series would you add to the list?

Four Netflix Kids Titles Featuring Children Wearing Glasses

  • Sid the Science Kid: This show features two female characters that wear glasses. May, Sid's sweet friend, is an imaginative and smart girl that often thinks outside of the box. Sid's Grandma, with whom he shares a special bond, also wears glasses. Bonus: Kids can learn about science and friendship while watching this fun series.
  • Arthur: The lead character, Arthur Read, wears glasses, but what I really love about this show is that it deals with some pretty big issues in a child-appropriate way.
  • The Magic School Bus: This show has been one of my favorites for many years now because it introduces children to science concepts in simple terms. Arnold, a little boy with a rather large rock collection (love!), is my favorite character. His cousin Janet... well, she does make a good villain at times.
  • The Wild Thornberrys Movie: Eliza Thornberry is an intelligent girl with a heart for exploring. The girl is fearless! Perhaps this is why she is one of my favorite fictional characters.
