My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Perry's Ocean Edge Resort during our recent trip to Daytona Beach, Florida. While the resort has been open since 1941, my family and I had never ventured past the "other" side of the boardwalk for family travel. Needless to say - we have been missing out!
The overarching theme of Perry's Ocean Edge Resort is "Welcome Home." While this is printed on many of their brochures, resort maps, and elsewhere, I believe that the theme holds true with every detail of the resort experience.
Guests are made to feel at-home in spacious and tastefully decorated rooms, with freshly scented bath amenities from Bath & Body Works. The Resort itself is positioned on the beachfront, among 700 feet of well-maintained green lawns, and offers incredible ocean views from each suite.
In addition to a year-round resort activity schedule, guests can enjoy many entertainment options without having to leave the resort!
- Two outdoor pools
- Indoor heated pool
- Shuffle board court
- Outdoor tiki bar at pool
- Basketball court
- Volleyball court
- Fitness room
- Relaxing koi pond
- Bocce ball court
- Colorful picnic tables with umbrella shade
- Outdoor grilling area
- Putt-putt golf
We had a great time exploring the resort and taking in all of the entertainment amenities. My dad taught Danger and me how to play shuffle board. It is now one of my favorite activities! The shuffle board court was fully-stocked with extra paddles and pucks to accommodate multiple players. I'm fairly certain we spent more than an hour competing with each other, but hey - it was an hour well-spent with family.
The indoor garden atrium building offers even more spacious suites, as well as an indoor heated pool and spa, and koi pond. While Danger enjoyed splashing in the pool and holding lively conversations with the fish, her favorite thing to do after a long day of beach-combing and playing shuffle board was this:
Yes, the lounge chairs are just as comfortable as they appear!
Wake up to a delicious all-you-can eat breakfast donut bar, as well as complimentary coffee and juice, too. It's a sweet way to start the day. Donut choices were not limited to the standard glazed variety, either. From cinnamon to powdered to chocolate - and even the traditional glazed - the Donut Lounge offers a little something for everyone. Danger and I were especially thrilled to find donuts with sprinkles - our favorite!
Perry's Ocean Edge Resort offers several room types to accommodate parties of many sizes. While all rooms include a mini-kitchen with separate dining table, some suites offer a full kitchen, as well. There are also family rooms, designated "Kid's Beach Suites," that have a separate sleeping area for children with bunk beds and a desk. These rooms are a great option for family travel.
Pet-lovers and those looking for a little more privacy can stay in the pet-friendly villas, which are small studio villas arranged among lush green grass and picnic areas.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the quiet side of Daytona Beach at Perry's Ocean Edge Resort. It is hands-down the most family-friendly resort that we've had the pleasure of visiting at Daytona Beach, and I look forward to the opportunity to visit Perry's again.
