Family-Friendly Atlanta: June 2013

Looking for something fun to do this month in Atlanta? As an Atlanta mommy blogger, I’m always searching for family-friendly events and attractions to entertain and delight my toddler. I’ve rounded up some information from a few of my favorite Atlanta attractions, and created a list of my top four tot-friendly places to visit this month. The Children's Museum of Atlanta

Special June programming includes the new WEEBLES Coast to Coast exhibit - where children can learn about all 50 states without the fuss of travel arrangements - and Beebo and Ravioli's Spectacular Circus, that will get children up and moving, dancing, and juggling. Zoo Atlanta

Treat Dad to a roaring good time this Father's Day at Zoo Atlanta! On June 16, Dad gets in FREE with the purchase of a regular, full-price admission ticket. The Zoo also celebrates Asian Heritage Day on June 15, with a day full of family-friendly entertainment. In addition to the month's special events, Zoo Atlanta also offers educational opportunities for guests to learn beyond the information provided for the general public, with the addition of day camps and teacher workshops. Stone Mountain Park

Explore favorite attractions like SkyHike and Geyser Towers, and take a hike up the mountain and overlook the gorgeous Atlanta skyline. Stone Mountain Park is one of my very favorite Atlanta destinations, and with just one visit, you will see why. I'm especially excited to check out the new Butterfly Adventures exhibit and get soaked in the new Water Works show! So much fun awaits at Stone Mountain Park. Center For Puppetry Arts

Dr. Seuss's beloved tale of The Cat in the Hat will be performed at the Center from June 13 - July 28, 2013. This is one of my daughter's favorite stories, and we can't wait to check out Jon Ludwig's adaptation! Check out the Center’s upcoming performances for families, teens, and adults for the 2013-2014 season.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center

The new 4D movie experience, Legends of CHIMA, will debut this month at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta! Come out and celebrate the occasion on June 8-9th, where children can enjoy a scavenger hunt, themed activities, and a meet-and-greet with Laval, one of CHIMA's characters!

Fernbank Museum of Natural History

Celebrate Father's Day at Fernbank Museum of Natural History's Superhero celebration! On Sunday, June 16, come dressed as your favorite superhero, and enjoy games, themed activities, costumed characters, and even more! Atlanta Botanical Garden

With sculptures ranging up to 25 feet tall and 20 feet wide, the Garden’s new Imaginary Worlds exhibition is sure to delight and amaze! Special events also include Endangered Species Day, Science Cafe, and Concerts in the Gardenin addition to the Garden’s ongoing educational opportunities. Atlanta History Center

In addition to the Bank of America Free Admission Weekend, the Atlanta History Center offers several fun events for the month of June! From Summer Camp: My Town to Juneteenth: The First Day of Freedom, the Center offers a little something for historical buffs of all ages. Georgia Aquarium

Celebrate World Oceans Day at the Georgia Aquarium on June 8. Learn how you can do your part to protect the oceans, while enjoying workshops, themed activities, demonstrations -- and even a scavenger hunt with Buddy the Dinosaur! The FOUR - Festivals, events, restaurants, and area attractions to visit this month: 

  • Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint - Children can build their own pizza, nibble on Coca-Cola cake, and color pizza-themed pictures while waiting on food to be prepared.
  • Lotta Frutta - Sandwiches, fresh fruits, smoothies, and more, all in an eclectic neighborhood hangout.
  • Peachtree Hills Festival of the Arts - Don't miss out on the HUGE giveaway!
  • Isis Parenting Center at Babies R Us Dunwoody - Whether you are a new or veteran parent, the Center offers child education classes to help make the transition into parenthood easier. Classes range from breastfeeding, sleep training, birthing, and even how to introduce older children to the new baby.
