Day at the Zoo

The best day of 2011 (so far) was Mother's Day. I noticed that there was a price special going on at Zoo Atlanta, and thought that if we were ever going to make it out there with our little girl, Sunday would be a great day to go. We went with one of my very best girlfriends and her daughter, who just happens to be my daughter's best friend. We did not know it at the time, but she had the family pass to the zoo, so we all got in for FREE! Sweet! If you have not been to Zoo Atlanta lately, you are missing out. There are all sorts of cute baby animals. My daughter was crazy about the baby panda, but I was more interested in watching the baby gorilla, and how he interacted with the mom. She kept her hand wrapped around his foot the entire time, and would shake her head "no" sometimes. I could really relate to her. I guess 'helicopter' parenting is completely natural. {Side note: I really loathe the phrase 'helicopter parent' and think that we should do away with that silly phrase once and for all. Who is with me?!?}

Here are just a few of the hundreds of pictures that we took.

My daughter loves to watch Ni hao Kai-lan, so of course she would love the pandas. The baby was so cute! This was the most crowded exhibit, by far.Β

I don't know what this silly pose is, but thought I would share a picture of just how adorable and full of personality that my little one is. :)Β

Mother's Day was a very appropriate day for this picture to be taken, eh?Β

Beauty and the beast. Enough said.Β

Seriously, if you have a zoo nearby, now is the time to go. If you wait until the summer, it is only going to get hotter. When we lived in the Phoenix area, we visited the zoo one time. It was September, and was still pretty warm outside. Thankfully, it was a dry heat, and the zoo was set up with lots of shade and misting equipment. Really, I think the Phoenix Zoo is one of the best in the country, but I might be biased because I think everything in Arizona is much nicer :)

What did you do for Mother's Day? Are you already planning for Father's Day? I've started planning already, but could use some new ideas. Have an awesome weekend!
